Settings and your profile

General, API keys and spam settings are for the owner and admins. A member's Settings is their profile; see roles.

General

Settings → General shows the workspace: the team that every domain, mailbox and contact on this account belongs to. It also shows how to reach support. A person answers; say what you were doing and what you expected.

API keys

Settings → API keys manages the keys for the REST API and the MCP server. Keys are on every plan, the Free one included.

  1. Choose New API key, give it a name that says where it will be used, and tick what it may do. A new key reads mail and writes drafts; sending is on only if you tick it.
  2. Copy the key. It is the value you send as X-Api-Key to the REST API, or as a bearer token to the MCP server.
  3. Use it from your own code or assistant: your first requests has examples to copy, and MCP server shows how to connect Claude and other clients.

You do not need a key to read or send mail yourself; the dashboard and IMAP clients use your mailbox's address and password. The list shows each key's name, what it may do and when it was created, and lets you copy or delete it. A deleted key stops working at once; delete and recreate a key you suspect has leaked.

Profile

Settings → Profile is about you rather than the workspace:

  • Display name and username. The display name is what teammates see on assignments and notes.
  • Email address. Changing your sign-in address sends a confirmation to the new one; it takes effect when confirmed.
  • Password. Change it, or set one if you registered with Google.
  • Google sign-in. Link or remove a Google account as a way to sign in. You cannot remove the last sign-in method.
  • Two-factor authentication. Set up an authenticator app (any TOTP app works) by scanning the QR code and entering a code. Download the recovery codes and keep them somewhere safe; each works once if you lose the app. Two-factor can be disabled or the authenticator key reset from the same section.

Theme

The dashboard follows your system's light or dark setting by default. The account menu at the foot of the sidebar cycles between system, light and dark. The preference is stored in the browser.

Deleting your account

Before deleting an account, export any mail you want to keep over IMAP and point your domains' MX records elsewhere. To have the account and its data removed, ask from the dashboard (Need help? in the sidebar), signed in as the account's owner. Deletion removes the workspace, its domains, mailboxes, messages and contacts; what is kept and for how long is in the privacy policy.
