connecting · the mail plane

A real mail service, as an airport. Watch it work.

Real mail, landing and taking off. Leave it open; it is a quiet way to watch a mail service breathe.

Building the airport…

This is FounderMail — email for founders and small teams, on your own domain, with an inbox that groups mail by customer. The planes are real mail, moving through it right now. See what it is

What is real here
  • Every number on the board is the whole platform's — deliveries to inboxes, junk, files, what left — counted from the same rows the operator's own dashboard counts, exact under 100 and rounded to the nearest 10 above ("today" is the UTC day), and fetched every few minutes.
  • The letters on screen move at the last hour's real rate, in its real proportions of junk, files and forwards; which letter is which is drawn at random. When the hour was quiet, the hour is replayed faster, and the board says by how much.
  • The sky, the sun and the lights follow your own clock, not ours.
  • Nothing here identifies an account, a domain, an address, a subject or a sender; the server never sends any of that. The bin labels are decoration.
  • The spam check is a spam check. FounderMail has no virus scanner, and nothing on this page is one.
  • Not shown: mail apps reading mail, the dashboard, campaigns, the writing assistant, storage, billing. It is the mail and only the mail.
  • Numbers not loading? ?demo=1 shows the scene with made-up numbers, marked as such.
  • The whole thing runs in your browser; nothing is tracked beyond the site's usual cookieless analytics.
  • Models by Kenney (CC0); full credits. The planes are ours.
